AskAuggie — Ask Auggie about anything

You've met all of them now. The agent who lost the listing to a thirty-second phone search. The plumber with the lonely gray zero. The rep whose warmest referral died on a stale LinkedIn. The business that failed a "complaints" search it didn't know it was taking.

Here's what every single one of them had in common: none of them had to lose. Not one was beaten on skill. They were beaten on visibility — and visibility is the most fixable problem in business. Being the Secret Agent isn't a life sentence. It's just a to-do list you haven't worked through yet. So let's work through it. Thirty days, four weeks, and you're out of the shadows for good.

How do you build an online presence from scratch?

You don't do it all at once — you do it in four focused weeks: claim, fix, prove, and show up. Week one, claim and verify everything with your name on it. Week two, make every detail consistent everywhere. Week three, build your proof — reviews, recommendations, real photos. Week four, put up something you own and set a rhythm to keep it alive. Any professional in any field can go from invisible to credible in a month by working this order. Here's the week-by-week.

The 30-Day Plan

Week 1 — Claim

Find and take control of everything with your name on it. Claim and verify your Google Business Profile. Build out or update your LinkedIn. Google yourself the way a customer would and list every profile that appears — Zillow, Yelp, directories, old employer pages, all of it. You can't manage what you haven't claimed, so this week is pure inventory and ownership.

Week 2 — Fix

Make yourself one consistent person online. Set your Name, Address, and Phone identically everywhere. Update every outdated title, headshot, and brokerage or company. Merge or remove true duplicates and zombie listings. By the end of this week, whatever a stranger finds, it all agrees — and that consistency is what earns Google's and a human's trust.

Week 3 — Prove

Give people a reason to believe you. Start a steady review habit and ask recent happy clients today. Gather a few recommendations in your own name. Replace stock photos with real ones of your actual work. If you can, record one simple video. Proof is what turns "exists" into "trustworthy."

Week 4 — Show Up

Plant a flag you own. Put up a simple personal site or link hub with your photo, your proof, and your contact info. Post one useful thing in your own voice. Then set a light maintenance rhythm — a few reviews a month, an occasional post, a quarterly self-search — so you never slide back into the shadows.

You Were Never the Secret Agent — You Just Hadn't Started

That's the whole series in one plan. Every Case File was really the same story told in a different job: a good professional losing to a more visible one, over gaps that a focused month would close. The skill was never the problem. The shadows were. Work these four weeks and the next time someone searches your name — the buyer, the seller, the referral, the customer — they'll find exactly what they were hoping for. Proof that you're the real thing.

Thanks for riding along with the whole Secret Agent Series. Hootie's closing the case file on this one — but the lessons stay open.

Want the whole series in one place, plus this 30-day plan as a printable checklist? Friday we're releasing the free Secret Agent Files — all ten cases and the plan in one download.

And if you'd rather we just run the whole thing for you — audit, cleanup, and setup — that's exactly what Ask8 does. Start with a Digital Visibility Audit, and subscribe so you don't miss Friday's release.

All The Best To Your Success.

The Secret Agent Series is based on real patterns I see play out across sales, local business, and real estate. Specific names, details, and scenarios are fictional or composited. The lessons are not.
